Welcome back to SportsFBI & OTB Spreads featuring BlowOutAlert! With the All-Star break right around the corner, we are seeing some tired arms and massive value spots across the board. We are trusting the data, finding the edges in run differentials, and looking for spots where the public is overvaluing certain names. Let's dive right into our favorite picks of the day!
π― Top Teams We're Backing Today
- Detroit Tigers (-137)
- π₯ Troy Melton is absolutely rolling on the mound right now.
- π₯ Clear run differential advantage (+4.5) over the A's.
- π₯ We are comfortably fading Jeffrey Springs, who is trending in the wrong direction with his ERA.
- Tampa Bay Rays (-120)
- π₯ As soon as we stop betting the Yankees, they winβso we are officially fading New York again!
- π₯ Shane McClanahan has been solid all season and is backed by a Rays lineup that plays exceptionally well at Tropicana Field.
- π₯ Gerrit Cole just hasn't looked like the same dominant guy since coming back.
- Pittsburgh Pirates (Moneyline)
- π₯ Jared Jones is a stud who just demoralized the Phillies for 6 Ks and only 1 ER in his last start.
- π₯ Strong +2.5 run differential edge and massive home-field advantage.
- π₯ Engine Edge clearly points to Pittsburgh having the better starting quality pitcher today.
- Washington Nationals (Moneyline)
- π₯ Foster Griffin has been super profitable this year and plays significantly better at home.
- π₯ Fading Aaron Getty, who has been getting crushed as the Astros have lost his last seven straight starts.
- π₯ The Nats have the clear FIP advantage (3.45 to 4.72).
- Minnesota Twins (-120)
- π₯ Backing the Twins at home in Target Field where their bats are working.
- π₯ Clear +2 run differential advantage over the Guardians.
- π₯ Fading "Slade" and an inconsistent Cleveland squad.
- New York Mets (-1.5 Run Line)
- π₯ Sharp money has moved the line four points in favor of the Mets.
- π₯ Fading Steven Cruz, a rotational pitcher stepping up for the Royals.
- π₯ Priced too high at -180 on the moneyline, so we are attacking the run line for better value.
βοΈ Teams We're Proceeding With Caution
- San Francisco Giants (Moneyline): Logan Webb got hit hard last time out, but his overall trend is moving in the right direction. We like the Giants' bats and their +1 run differential edge over Dylan Cease, but proceed with caution as Cease is a highly consistent arm.
- Chicago Cubs (+105): Colin Rea is pitching way above his baseline, but Dean Kremer is a tough matchup. We are taking the plus money on the Cubs based on their +1.5 run differential edge over an Orioles team that hasn't been as sharp with the bats lately.
- Miami Marlins (+108): This is a 50/50 trade-off between Tyler Phillips and George Kirby. We are trusting the value on the Marlins' bats at plus money in what should be a tight, offensive game.
- Philadelphia Phillies (+119): Chase Burns is a highly-touted pitcher with a clear edge, but the Phillies hit righties incredibly well and Burns just gave up 5 ER. We're avoiding the heavy juice on the Reds and taking the plus money value on Philly.
- Chicago White Sox (-114): We are fading the Red Sox on the road. Davis Martin is a much better pitcher at home (sub-2 ERA) and we just can't trust Boston's consistency away from Fenway.
- St. Louis Cardinals (+123): Michael McGreevy is a model of consistency, keeping teams under 2 ER. Kyle Harrison is dangerous but has been trending down over his last five starts. We are happily taking the home dogs at Busch Stadium for great value!
π£ Target Slips & Totals
- π£ Giants vs. Blue Jays (Under) β With Dylan Cease and Logan Webb both trending in the right direction, give this game a strong look on the under.
- π£ Pirates vs. Braves (Over) β Look for the bats to step up in Pittsburgh today alongside Jared Jones.
