Arizona Diamondbacks vs Seattle Mariners — Recap

📰Game Recap

The Arizona Diamondbacks secured a tight 3-1 victory over the Seattle Mariners, propelled by one decisive offensive inning early in the contest. Their ability to deliver a crucial blow and then hold off the Mariners proved to be the difference in a low-scoring affair.

Arizona broke the scoreless tie in the second inning with a three-run surge, establishing a lead they would not relinquish. The Diamondbacks' offense then went quiet, but Seattle only managed a single run later in the game, consistently thwarted by solid pitching performances that kept the game out of reach.

The second inning was the pivotal moment, highlighted by A.J. Vukovich's three-run home run. This single swing accounted for all of Arizona's offense and created the necessary cushion in a game dominated by pitchers. His lone hit provided all three runs and ensured the Diamondbacks never trailed. Early relief from Ryne Nelson, who struck out three over two clean innings, also helped set a defensive tone for Arizona.

Ultimately, the Diamondbacks prevailed due to their clutch hitting in one key inning and their sustained strong pitching, preventing Seattle from ever mounting a serious threat. Arizona improved its record to 67-59, while the Mariners fell to 59-67.
