Tyler Callihan was a standout at the plate for Pittsburgh, while Braxton Ashcraft delivered a stellar outing on the mound.

The Pirates wasted no time establishing a lead, as Tyler Callihan launched a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning, putting Pittsburgh up 1-0. Callihan continued to be a factor, setting the tone for the Pirates' offense. They extended their lead in the third inning when Henry Davis singled, driving in Jack Suwinski to make it 2-0. Meanwhile, Pirates starter Braxton Ashcraft stifled the Tigers' bats through the early innings. Ashcraft was superb, pitching 5.1 innings and striking out eight batters without allowing an earned run, effectively shutting down Detroit's lineup. The Tigers finally broke through in the top of the sixth inning when Carson Kelly singled, scoring Andy Ibanez and cutting the deficit to 3-1. However, that would be the only offense Detroit could muster on the afternoon.

Despite getting on the scoreboard, the Tigers were unable to mount a full comeback, as the Pirates bullpen closed out the game. Callihan finished the day with two hits, including his crucial home run, an RBI, and two runs scored, earning top batting honors. Ashcraft's dominant pitching performance, paired with the Pirates' timely hitting, secured the win for Pittsburgh, allowing them to gain ground in their season standings.
