However, Seattle immediately responded in the bottom of the same inning, as Emerson hit a solo shot to right-center, restoring a two-run cushion.

The turning point came in the sixth inning with Julio Rodriguez’s three-run blast, which gave the Mariners their initial and largest lead of the game. This offensive surge was built upon the formidable outing from starting pitcher Bryan Woo. Woo delivered seven shutout innings, striking out five batters and effectively stifling the Tigers' lineup, ensuring Detroit remained off the scoreboard until the late innings. His command allowed Seattle to maintain control even when Detroit briefly threatened in the eighth.

Ultimately, Seattle's combination of stingy pitching and crucial power hitting proved too much for Detroit, allowing them to secure the win by effectively shutting down scoring opportunities and responding immediately to any challenge. The Mariners' victory improved their record to 56-59, while the Tigers fell to 55-59.
