Houston Astros vs Washington Nationals — Recap

📰Game Recap

Washington claimed a 3-1 victory over Houston, with all of their offense coming in a decisive three-run seventh inning that broke a late tie. The game was a tight pitching battle through the middle innings, characterized by a lack of offensive fireworks. Houston managed to score its lone run of the game, taking a brief lead. The complexion of the game shifted dramatically in the bottom of the seventh. Ronny Cruz delivered the biggest blow for Washington, launching a two-run home run as part of the Nationals' three-run outburst. This crucial rally transformed a deficit into a lead that the Nationals would not relinquish. Despite Houston's Hunter Brown dominating with nine strikeouts over four scoreless innings, his early exit meant the Nationals were able to break through against the Astros' bullpen. Ultimately, Washington's concentrated offensive effort in a single inning, highlighted by Cruz's timely blast, proved enough to overcome a strong initial pitching performance from the Astros. The Nationals now hold a 61-66 record, while the Astros stand at 63-63.
