Los Angeles Angels vs Detroit Tigers — Recap

📰Game Recap

The Los Angeles Angels staged a strong offensive performance, erasing an early deficit to score seven unanswered runs and defeat the Detroit Tigers 7-1. After falling behind by a run in the second inning, Los Angeles steadily chipped away, taking the lead in the fifth and pulling away with insurance runs in the later frames.

Detroit initially seized the lead in the bottom of the second inning when Wenceel Perez connected for a solo home run to right center. That narrow advantage held until the top of the fifth, when the Angels offense found its rhythm. Rivero singled home Adell to tie the game, and Logan Neto followed with a double to left, scoring Rivero and giving Los Angeles its first lead of the afternoon. A sacrifice fly by Grissom then brought home Walton, extending the Angels' advantage to 3-1.

The three-run outburst in the fifth inning proved to be the pivotal swing, overcoming an otherwise solid outing from Tigers starter Jack Flaherty, who struck out nine over 5.2 innings but was tagged for three earned runs. The Angels continued to build on their lead in the eighth inning, with Grissom doubling to score Trout, and Soler adding an RBI single to bring home Grissom. Los Angeles then capped its scoring in the ninth when Trout doubled to center, driving in both Neto and Walton for the final runs of the contest.

Ultimately, the Angels' sustained offensive pressure across multiple innings decided the contest, turning a tight game into a comfortable win. The Angels improved their record to 50-76, while the Tigers fell to 60-65.
