Dubón then extended the lead in the third by stealing home. Pittsburgh began to chip away in the fourth inning, as Gonzales doubled to score Reynolds, and Callihan's double later brought in Gonzales. By the top of the fifth, Lowe's sacrifice fly completed the comeback for Pittsburgh, tying the game at three runs apiece.

However, the game decisively swung back in Atlanta's favor immediately in the bottom of the fifth. Albies again drove in Acuña Jr. with a sacrifice fly, regaining the lead for the Braves. The biggest blow came when Dominic Smith launched a two-run home run to left field, scoring Olson and putting Atlanta ahead 6-3. This three-run frame, which was the largest single scoring inning of the game, effectively stifled Pittsburgh's momentum and provided the decisive advantage.

Despite Pittsburgh's efforts to claw back, Atlanta's immediate and powerful response in the fifth inning proved too much, highlighting the Braves' ability to capitalize on key opportunities and maintain their lead. The Braves improved to 75-50, while the Pirates fell to 61-66.
