πŸ“°Game Recap

The Boston Red Sox mounted a late-inning rally to secure a 9-8 walk-off victory over the Seattle Mariners in a seesaw affair Tuesday night. After trailing by three runs in the seventh inning, Boston chipped away at Seattle’s lead before delivering the decisive blow in extra innings.

The game was marked by frequent lead changes from the start. Seattle struck first in the opening frame when RodrΓguez doubled, scoring Randy Arozarena. Boston quickly responded, as Gasper connected for a solo home run, and in the second inning, Duran's two-run blast put the Red Sox ahead 3-1. Arozarena then launched a solo shot in the third and later singled in a run in the fifth to draw the Mariners even. Rafaela's two-run single put Boston back in front, 5-3, in the bottom of the fifth, only for Seattle to explode in the top of the sixth.

The Mariners’ four-run sixth inning, their largest scoring frame of the night, appeared to turn the tide in their favor. Arozarena continued his exceptional performance with a two-run single, and Canzone followed with a two-run double, giving Seattle a 7-5 advantage. Raleigh extended that lead further with a solo home run in the seventh. However, Boston's lineup refused to yield. Story’s two-run double in the eighth inning cut the deficit to one, and Rafaela then tied the game in the ninth with a sacrifice fly, setting the stage for extra innings.

Despite a remarkable offensive night from Arozarena, who collected four hits, including a home run, and drove in four for Seattle, it was Boston's ability to capitalize on late-game opportunities that ultimately clinched the win. Story's game-winning single in the tenth inning completed the Red Sox's comeback, rewarding their persistent effort. The Red Sox improved to 75-63 on the season, while the Mariners fell to 64-74.
