Gasper then doubled to right, driving in Wong to give Boston its first lead of the game, and Rafaela added another run with an RBI single that scored Gasper. Giants pitcher Jake Bennett settled in after this inning, ultimately pitching seven innings and striking out six, but the damage was done. San Francisco managed to pull a run back in the seventh when Koss scored on a throwing error by right fielder Abreu, but it wasn't enough to reclaim the lead. The Red Sox's persistent offense and pivotal fourth-inning rally proved too much for the Giants to overcome, solidifying their position as the pregame favorite. This win brought the Red Sox's record to 71-59, while the Giants fell to 52-78.
