St. Louis Cardinals vs Houston Astros — Recap

📰Game Recap

The St. Louis Cardinals secured a narrow 3-2 victory over the Houston Astros, leveraging strong pitching and a crucial offensive spark to edge out their interleague opponent. The win marked a pivotal moment in a tightly contested affair that saw both teams fight for every run in a low-scoring game.

The Cardinals' offense found just enough traction to put three runs on the board. Jordan Walker contributed significantly, delivering a home run that accounted for one of the St. Louis runs and his lone RBI. Meanwhile, the Astros struggled to generate consistent offense against St. Louis pitching, managing only two runs, with one earned run surrendered by starter Michael McGreevy.

What ultimately swung the outcome in St. Louis's favor was the combination of timely hitting and effective mound work. Michael McGreevy anchored the Cardinals' pitching staff with a solid performance, throwing 5.0 innings, striking out five batters, and allowing just one earned run. His ability to largely neutralize the Astros' lineup, combined with Walker's decisive blast, provided the slim but sufficient margin of victory.

The Cardinals' pitching staff contained Houston’s bats throughout the game, ensuring that Walker's offensive contribution and the team's overall three-run output were enough to seal the win. St. Louis now stands at 65-61, while Houston drops to 63-63.
