Game Recap
The Boston Red Sox edged out the Tampa Bay Rays in a tight 7-6 decision, navigating a late-game surge from their divisional rivals to secure the victory at home. Boston's offense provided just enough support to overcome a four-run seventh inning by the Rays.
Drew Rasmussen delivered a strong start for the Rays, allowing just one earned run over four innings, setting a competitive tone early. However, the Red Sox managed to build a lead with timely hitting from throughout their lineup. The game escalated dramatically in the seventh inning when Tampa Bay exploded for four runs, briefly turning the tide and pulling themselves back into contention.
Despite Tampa Bay's four-run outburst in the seventh, the Red Sox offense had already done enough damage to maintain their advantage. Carlos Narvaez was particularly instrumental for Boston, contributing a key home run and driving in three runs, proving critical in the narrow win. Narvaez's timely hitting ensured the Red Sox either built a sufficient cushion or quickly responded to any Rays' threat.
Ultimately, the Red Sox' ability to string together critical hits, anchored by Narvaez's performance, allowed them to withstand the Rays' best efforts and clinch the win. The Red Sox now stand at 67-58, while the Rays fall to 74-50.
