Chicago Bears vs Cincinnati Bengals — Recap

📰Game Recap

The Cincinnati Bengals overcame an early deficit, finding their offensive rhythm in the second quarter to score 14 unanswered points and establish a commanding lead over the Chicago Bears. Despite Chicago's ability to put points on the board via field goals, Cincinnati's red zone efficiency ultimately proved too much to overcome, securing a decisive victory.

Chicago initially took the lead with a 45-yard field goal from Cairo Santos in the first quarter, though Evan McPherson quickly answered with a 25-yard kick for Cincinnati to tie. Santos then put the Bears back in front early in the second quarter with a 26-yard field goal. From that point, however, the Bengals seized control. Josh Johnson connected with Colbie Young for a 17-yard touchdown pass, followed by another scoring strike to Tanner Hudson from 6 yards out, pushing Cincinnati ahead 17-6. Santos added another 44-yard field goal before halftime, narrowing the gap to 17-9.

The Bengals' offensive burst in the second quarter irrevocably shifted the game's momentum. After two early Chicago field goals, quarterback Josh Johnson led scoring drives that culminated in touchdown passes to Colbie Young and Tanner Hudson, giving Cincinnati a double-digit lead heading into the locker room. The momentum carried into the third quarter when Sean Clifford found Noah Thomas for a 20-yard touchdown pass, extending the Bengals' lead to 24-9. Chicago's offense, meanwhile, stalled repeatedly in the red zone, settling for three field goals from Cairo Santos, never finding the end zone to keep pace.

Cincinnati's ability to convert scoring opportunities into touchdowns proved the difference, creating a gap Chicago's field-goal offense couldn't bridge. The Bengals' offensive consistency in the middle quarters cemented their control, leading to a comfortable win. Cincinnati improved to 3-0, while Chicago fell to 2-1.
