Pittsburgh Steelers vs Buffalo Bills — Recap

📰Game Recap

The Buffalo Bills mounted a dramatic fourth-quarter comeback, erasing a 10-point deficit and converting a decisive two-point play in the final minutes to snatch a narrow one-point victory from the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Pittsburgh initially dominated the scoreboard, responding to an early Tyler Bass field goal with two first-quarter touchdown passes from Will Howard – a 13-yarder to Germie Bernard and a 5-yard strike to Lake McRee – to establish a 14-3 lead. Buffalo narrowed the gap before halftime with a 1-yard Frank Gore Jr. rush. The second half saw both teams trade blows; Eli Heidenreich extended Pittsburgh's lead with a 9-yard run in the third quarter, only for Skyler Bell to counter with a 28-yard rushing touchdown for Buffalo.

The game's pivotal moments unfolded in the final quarter. Kaden Wetjen appeared to deliver a significant blow to Buffalo, returning a punt 45 yards for a touchdown that pushed Pittsburgh's lead to 27-17, despite a failed two-point conversion attempt. Undeterred, the Bills began their relentless surge. Tyler Bass connected on a 42-yard field goal, bringing them within a touchdown. With time ticking away, Ian Wheeler punctuated a late drive with a 2-yard rushing touchdown, setting up the critical decision. Buffalo opted for the two-point conversion, and Shane Buechele delivered a successful pass to Dante Pettis, completing the comeback and giving the Bills their first lead since the game's opening minutes.

Buffalo's ability to execute under pressure in the game's waning moments, particularly on the decisive two-point conversion, proved the difference, as they overcame Pittsburgh's strong start and late special teams score. The Bills improved to 3-0 on the season, while the Steelers fell to 1-2.
