πŸ“°Game Recap

The San Francisco 49ers opened their season with a dominant performance, scoring 24 unanswered points to rout the Los Angeles Rams. After falling behind early in the second quarter, the 49ers asserted control behind a strong offensive showing, ultimately securing a comfortable victory that defied pregame analytics which had favored Los Angeles.

San Francisco initiated the scoring in the first quarter with an Eddy Pineiro 20-yard field goal. Los Angeles responded early in the second quarter when Kyren Williams found the end zone on a 5-yard rush, giving the Rams a brief 7-3 lead. That advantage was short-lived, however, as Brock Purdy connected with Demarcus Robinson for a 39-yard touchdown pass before halftime, putting San Francisco back up 10-7.

The second half belonged entirely to the 49ers. Purdy continued his impressive play, throwing two more touchdown passes that solidified San Francisco's control. A 2-yard strike to Mike Evans in the third quarter extended the lead, followed by a 15-yard connection with Deebo Samuel Sr. in the fourth. The 49ers added another 10 points in the final frame, showcasing their complete command as Purdy finished with three touchdown throws and 205 yards passing. Christian McCaffrey also contributed significantly on the ground, averaging 6.8 yards per carry on his 10 rushes for 68 yards.

San Francisco's ability to quickly reclaim the lead and then consistently build on it throughout the second half proved to be the difference, effectively shutting down the Rams' offense after their initial surge. The 49ers begin their season 1-0, while the Rams start 0-1.
