Arizona Diamondbacks vs Philadelphia Phillies — Recap

📰Game Recap

The Philadelphia Phillies secured a narrow 4-3 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks, with all of their offense coming in one explosive third inning. The Diamondbacks mounted a late comeback attempt, but ultimately fell short of fully erasing the early deficit.

Philadelphia jumped out to an early lead in the third frame, pushing across four runs against Arizona starter Brandon Pfaadt. The Diamondbacks began to chip away in the fourth inning, scoring their first run of the contest. Two more runs were added by Arizona in the sixth, bringing the score to 4-3 and setting up a tense finish.

The turning point arrived in the third inning when the Phillies erupted for four runs, marking the largest scoring inning for either team. Kyle Schwarber delivered the decisive blow, connecting for a three-run home run that accounted for the bulk of Philadelphia's scoring and three of his own RBI. Although Pfaadt completed six innings and struck out six batters for the Diamondbacks, those three earned runs in the third proved costly.

Ultimately, the Phillies' ability to capitalize on a single offensive surge proved just enough to withstand Arizona's persistent efforts to rally. Their early outburst created a cushion that held up through the game's final outs. The Phillies now hold a 69-58 record, while the Diamondbacks fall to 66-61.
