📰Game Recap

The Washington Nationals held the high-flying Milwaukee Brewers to just one run en route to a decisive 3-1 victory on the road. A stellar pitching performance from the Nationals staff stifled Milwaukee's potent offense, securing an unexpected win against a team well ahead of them in the standings.

Milwaukee's only offense came courtesy of William Contreras, who launched a solo home run for his team's lone run and hit of the contest. Beyond that early power display, the Brewers struggled to generate any further scoring opportunities, with their lineup consistently kept off the bases by Washington's hurlers.

The most pivotal performance came from Foster Griffin, who was instrumental in locking down the Brewers. Pitching 5.1 scoreless innings, Griffin surrendered no earned runs and struck out one, effectively neutralizing Milwaukee's bats and preventing any rally attempts. His extended, dominant relief outing allowed Washington's offense to eventually pull ahead and secure the lead without facing significant pressure.

Ultimately, Washington's pitching staff orchestrated a masterful game plan, demonstrating their capacity to shut down one of the league's top offenses. Their ability to contain the Brewers proved to be the difference. The Nationals improved to 61-66, while the Brewers' record moved to 77-49.
