The pivotal moment of the game arrived in the bottom of the sixth inning, as the Padres offense erupted for four runs to cement their control. The rally began with Campusano's 406-foot solo home run to left center, pushing the score to 5-1. Song then singled to right, scoring Andujar, followed by Tatis Jr.'s single to left that brought Song home. Merrill capped off the explosive inning with another single to right, scoring Tatis Jr. and leaving the Diamondbacks facing an insurmountable 8-1 deficit.

Arizona attempted to claw their way back in the seventh, as Troy launched a 405-foot two-run homer to left center, bringing Gurriel Jr. home and narrowing the gap to 8-3. However, the Padres were quick to extinguish any hope of a comeback. In the bottom of the same inning, Andujar continued his impressive day at the plate, doubling to left to score Cronenworth. Bowen then singled to left, bringing Andujar home himself, making it 10-3. Andujar finished the game as the top batting performer, collecting three hits, two RBIs, and scoring two runs.

The Diamondbacks managed one more run in the eighth when Kepler doubled to right, scoring Carroll, but it was too little, too late, as the final score settled at 10-4. The San Diego Padres delivered a convincing performance, overcoming an early deficit to secure a commanding win, ultimately affirming their pregame favoritism and adding another notch to their record.
