๐Ÿ“ฐGame Recap

The Cincinnati Reds, entering the contest as slight favorites against the Philadelphia Phillies, lived up to expectations in an 11-5 victory that saw them overcome an early deficit with a barrage of home runs. While the Phillies, holding a superior record at 57-50 compared to the Reds' 49-55, initially seized control, it was the Reds' explosive offense that ultimately dictated the outcome.

Philadelphia quickly put pressure on Reds starter Chase Burns in the second inning. Rincones Jr. scored on a triple by Crawford, who then came home himself on a wild pitch, giving the Phillies an early 2-0 lead. However, the Reds quickly answered in the bottom of the third, as Sal Stewart launched a 356-foot two-run homer to right, bringing De La Cruz across the plate and tying the game at 2-2. This marked the beginning of a dominant offensive display for Stewart and his teammates.

The true turning point arrived in the bottom of the fourth inning, when the Reds unleashed a five-run onslaught. Marte kicked things off with a go-ahead solo shot to left center. De La Cruz then followed with a two-run homer, bringing Arroyo home, before Stewart connected for his second long ball of the game, a 358-foot blast to right. Bleday capped the incredible inning with yet another solo homer, extending Cincinnati's lead to a commanding 7-2.

Despite the Reds' burgeoning lead, the Phillies attempted to claw their way back. Stott's sacrifice fly in the fifth scored Harper, and Realmuto added a solo homer in the sixth, narrowing the gap to 7-4. But Cincinnati quickly snuffed out any comeback hopes. In the bottom of the sixth, Bleday singled to score Friedl, and Marte then delivered a decisive blow with a double to left, clearing the bases by bringing De La Cruz, Steer, and Bleday home and pushing the score to 11-4. A solo homer by Schwarber in the top of the ninth was merely a consolation for the Phillies, as the Reds closed out the 11-5 win.

Reds pitcher Chase Burns earned the victory, throwing 5.0 innings and surrendering 3 earned runs with 2 strikeouts. The undisputed offensive star of the night was Sal Stewart, whose two home runs and three RBIs were instrumental in the Reds' comeback. This performance cemented the favored Reds' win, showcasing their power-hitting prowess and handing the Phillies a tough road loss.
