Chicago White Sox vs Colorado Rockies — Recap

📰Game Recap

The Colorado Rockies secured a narrow 5-4 victory over the Chicago White Sox, propelled by a strong offensive start and timely bullpen work that stymied a late comeback attempt. Colorado wasted no time establishing an advantage, plating three runs in the opening frame, which would stand as their largest scoring inning of the contest. Zac Veen contributed to the early surge with a solo home run, giving the Rockies an immediate cushion. The White Sox offense slowly chipped away at the deficit, ensuring the game remained a tight affair throughout. While Chicago mounted pressure in later innings, the Rockies' initial three-run outburst proved to be the decisive factor, establishing a lead they would never relinquish. Critical relief pitching helped preserve the narrow margin, notably from Keegan Thompson, who threw 2.0 scoreless innings and struck out three to keep the White Sox at bay during their rally efforts. Ultimately, the Rockies' ability to capitalize early and then hold their ground with effective pitching in high-leverage situations allowed them to overcome a team with a stronger record. Following the win, the Rockies moved to 51-74, while the White Sox now stand at 65-59.
