๐Ÿ“ฐGame Recap

The Milwaukee Brewers, entering the contest as the clear favorite with a stellar 66-40 record, overcame an early deficit to defeat the Cincinnati Reds 5-3, who fell to 49-55 on the season. Cincinnati jumped out to an immediate lead when Stuart Fairchild Myers doubled to left in the top of the first inning, scoring Spencer Steer and putting the Reds up 1-0. Reds starter Nick Lodolo was masterful through the early frames, holding the potent Brewers offense scoreless through five innings while striking out four.

The Reds extended their advantage in the top of the fifth, as Elly De La Cruz launched a 412-foot two-run homer to left-center field, bringing home Jose Arroyo and pushing Cincinnati's lead to 3-0. Lodolo continued his stellar outing, completing five innings without surrendering an earned run, keeping the Brewers off the scoreboard despite their persistent efforts.

However, the Brewers' offense finally broke through in the bottom of the sixth. Tyler Bauers singled to left, scoring Jake Vaughn and cutting the deficit to 3-1. The inning continued to unravel for the Reds when Sal Frelick drew a walk, and Christian Yelich scored on a wild pitch from Cincinnati reliever Ben Petty, bringing Milwaukee within one run at 3-2. The comeback was completed in the bottom of the seventh when Brice Turang blasted a 418-foot solo home run to center, tying the game at 3-3 and igniting the home crowd.

The decisive blow came in the bottom of the eighth inning. Joey Ortiz, who was Milwaukee's top offensive performer on the night, crushed a 412-foot two-run homer to center field, also scoring Sal Frelick, to give the Brewers their first lead of the game at 5-3. Ortiz's crucial hit capped off his strong night at the plate, securing the win for the favored Brewers in a dramatic come-from-behind victory.
