The contest pivoted decisively in the bottom of the sixth. With two runners on, Sullivan blasted a double to right, driving in Castro and Johnston to push the lead to three. Moments later, Jake McCarthy launched a three-run homer 387 feet to right field, scoring Julien and Sullivan and ballooning Colorado's advantage. Rumfield then added another run with an RBI double that scored Carrigg, culminating in the six-run outburst. On the mound, Freeland shut down the Royals' offense for the remainder of the game, allowing just one earned run over nine innings while striking out eight. The Royals' anemic offense, playing without key injured players like Bobby Witt Jr. and Vinnie Pasquantino, struggled to generate anything against Freeland, mirroring pregame analytical predictions.
