After Montgomery homered in the second inning to give Chicago an early lead, the Angels briefly pulled even in the top of the fourth when Adell singled to score Schanuel. The turning point came in the fourth inning when Romo’s two-run homer instantly nullified the Angels’ tying run, preventing any momentum shift. This blast created separation that Martin, who struck out seven over 5.2 innings while allowing only one earned run, was able to protect. The White Sox’s ability to respond quickly and add insurance runs kept Los Angeles at arm’s length throughout the contest, as the Angels offense could only manage scattered solo efforts.

Ultimately, Chicago's blend of timely power hitting from Romo and efficient pitching from Martin proved too much for the Angels to overcome. The White Sox now stand at 66-58, while the Angels fall to 49-77.
