Detroit Tigers vs Atlanta Braves — Recap

📰Game Recap

The Atlanta Braves defeated the Detroit Tigers 5-2, largely thanks to a dominant pitching performance and opportunistic hitting that built an early lead and stifled the Tigers' offense until the final inning.

The Braves opened the scoring in the third inning when Ronald Acuña Jr. doubled to left field, bringing home Yastrzemski. Marcell Ozuna followed with a sacrifice fly to center field, allowing Acuña Jr. to score and extend Atlanta's lead to two runs. The Braves added another run in the seventh inning after Yastrzemski singled to right, scoring Dubón.

Atlanta's steady offensive contributions, paired with a stifling performance from their pitching staff, proved decisive. Martin Perez delivered five shutout innings, striking out five batters to keep the Tigers off the scoreboard. In the eighth inning, Ozzie Albies hammered a two-run homer to left, scoring Olson ahead of him, which pushed Atlanta’s lead to five runs. This crucial blast provided an insurmountable cushion, rendering Detroit’s two-run homer by Pérez in the top of the ninth largely academic.

The Braves’ ability to generate runs across multiple innings and maintain a strong defensive front, spearheaded by Perez, ensured a comfortable win. Following this game, the Braves’ record stands at 75-50, while the Tigers’ record moves to 60-65.
