The Chicago Cubs overcame an early deficit to defeat the Los Angeles Dodgers, scoring five unanswered runs to secure an upset victory. Chicago's offense steadily chipped away, eventually pulling ahead and extending its lead in the later innings while holding the Dodgers scoreless after the second frame.

Los Angeles initially took the lead in the second inning when Tucker launched a solo home run to left center. That advantage was short-lived, however, as Dansby Swanson answered for Chicago with his own solo shot to left center in the bottom of the third, evening the score. The Cubs then broke the tie in the sixth inning on an infield single by Hoerner that allowed Bregman to score.

The decisive blow came in the bottom of the seventh, as Chicago manufactured two more runs to gain separation. Crow-Armstrong singled to right field, driving in Swanson, before Suzuki followed with a single to center that scored Crow-Armstrong, pushing the lead to three runs. Hoerner then put the game out of reach in the eighth with a solo home run to left center, capping off a dominant offensive display from the Cubs in the second half of the game. Despite a strong performance from Dodgers pitcher Tarik Skubal, who allowed just two earned runs over six innings with six strikeouts, Los Angeles's offense could not capitalize.

Ultimately, Chicago's consistent offensive pressure and ability to score in multiple late innings proved too much for the Dodgers, who struggled to generate any offense beyond their early home run. The Cubs prevailed by converting opportunities and securing key hits, outplaying the heavily favored Dodgers squad. With the win, Chicago improved to 65-49, while Los Angeles fell to 69-45.
