New York Yankees vs Seattle Mariners — Recap

📰Game Recap

The New York Yankees secured a 5-3 victory over the Seattle Mariners, propelled by a dominant pitching performance from Cam Schlittler and a pivotal three-run sixth inning that featured Paul Goldschmidt's bat.

Schlittler effectively stifled the Mariners' offense for much of the contest, keeping them off the scoreboard for over six innings. The Yankees, meanwhile, found their rhythm, building a lead before breaking the game open in the decisive sixth frame.

The game's turning point arrived in that sixth inning, which saw the Yankees plate three runs, marking their largest scoring inning of the day. Paul Goldschmidt delivered the crucial blow, connecting for a three-run home run that cemented New York's advantage. This timely offensive outburst perfectly complemented Schlittler's masterful outing, as he surrendered no earned runs over 6.1 innings while fanning seven Mariners hitters.

Ultimately, the combination of Schlittler's command on the mound and Goldschmidt's clutch power hitting proved to be the difference against Seattle. The Yankees improved their record to 70-55, while the Mariners dropped to 59-67.
