The Angels struck first in the bottom of the first inning when Meckler scored on a Ballesteros double play groundout. Philadelphia quickly responded in the third inning, as J.T. Despite Angels starting pitcher Yusei Kikuchi's solid outing, allowing just two earned runs over seven innings, the Phillies' persistent lineup found ways to score.

Ultimately, the Philadelphia offense's ability to consistently chip away and eventually break open the game proved too much for the Angels, securing the victory. The Phillies improved their record to 77-60, while the Angels fell to 52-85.
