San Francisco Giants vs Miami Marlins — Recap

📰Game Recap

The Miami Marlins, sitting at a .500 record of 55-55, managed a narrow 2-1 upset victory over the 47-62 San Francisco Giants, who had entered the game as the favorites. The game's scoring began in the bottom of the second inning when Miami's Kyle Stowers took Logan Webb deep with a 426-foot solo home run to center field, giving the Marlins an early 1-0 lead.

The Giants quickly responded, evening the score in the top of the third inning when Schmitt singled to right, allowing Arraez to cross the plate and making it a 1-1 contest. However, Miami wasted no time in reclaiming their lead. In the very next inning, the bottom of the fourth, Lopez doubled to center field, bringing home Stowers, who had singled earlier, for his second run of the night, putting the Marlins back on top 2-1.

That two-run output would prove to be all the Marlins needed to secure the win. Giants pitcher Logan Webb delivered a commendable performance despite the loss, going 8.0 innings, striking out five, and allowing only the two earned runs. No further scoring occurred throughout the remainder of the game, as Miami held on for the tight victory. Stowers finished as the top offensive performer, accounting for a hit, an RBI, and two runs scored to lead his team to the underdog win.
