Washington Nationals vs Cincinnati Reds — Recap

📰Game Recap

The Cincinnati Reds delivered a dominant performance against the Washington Nationals, securing a decisive 15-1 victory. Their offense erupted for multiple home runs and timely hits, while starting pitcher Chase Burns silenced the Nationals’ bats for six innings, never allowing them to threaten.

Cincinnati began its scoring barrage in the second inning when McLain launched a two-run homer to center field. The offense continued to build momentum, breaking the game open further in the fourth with a four-run rally. Trevino’s single brought home two runs, followed by Hayes’s double that plated McLain and Trevino, extending the lead to six runs. JJ Bleday then unleashed a three-run blast in the fifth inning and added another two-run shot in the seventh, pushing the Reds’ advantage to 11-0.

While the four-run fourth inning established a strong lead, it was Bleday's back-to-back multi-run homers that truly cemented the Reds' command, building an insurmountable lead. His stellar night included three hits, two home runs, and six RBIs, spearheading the offensive explosion. On the mound, Burns was untouchable, fanning seven Nationals batters and allowing no earned runs over his six innings of work. Washington’s lone run came in the eighth inning on a wild pitch, long after the game’s outcome was decided.

The Reds’ combination of explosive hitting and a masterful pitching outing proved too much for the Nationals, leaving little doubt about the final result. Cincinnati now stands at 60-65, while Washington’s record falls to 60-67.
