Baltimore Orioles vs Pittsburgh Pirates — Recap

📰Game Recap

Pittsburgh secured a narrow 5-4 victory over Baltimore, with an early offensive burst proving to be the difference. The Pirates established a lead in the second inning and then held off the Orioles' efforts to close the gap.

The contest saw the Pirates jump out to a significant advantage. Their offense exploded for four runs in the second inning, giving them a comfortable cushion. While Baltimore continued to battle throughout the game, they spent much of the afternoon trying to chip away at the deficit.

Pittsburgh's decisive four-run second inning ultimately created a lead that the Orioles couldn't fully erase. Though Baltimore's Gunnar Henderson delivered a strong performance, connecting for three hits including a home run and driving in two runs, his efforts were not enough to overcome the early damage. On the mound for the Pirates, Mitch Keller delivered a solid outing, limiting the Orioles to just two earned runs over six innings and helping to preserve the advantage.

Ultimately, the Pirates' ability to capitalize on an early scoring opportunity, combined with steady pitching, allowed them to prevail in a tightly contested matchup. The victory moves Pittsburgh's record to 62-65, while Baltimore falls to 61-64.
