San Diego Padres vs Boston Red Sox — Recap

📰Game Recap

The Boston Red Sox defeated the San Diego Padres, securing a victory behind a crucial three-run outburst in the middle innings and a solid performance from their starting pitcher.

Boston's offense found its footing against the Padres, ultimately pushing five runs across the plate. While San Diego managed to score twice, their bats were largely contained throughout the contest, never truly threatening to take control of the game.

The decisive moment came in the sixth inning when the Red Sox broke open a tight game with a three-run rally, creating vital separation. Contributing significantly to Boston's offensive effort was Marcelo Mayer, who collected two hits, including a home run, drove in two runs, and scored twice himself. On the mound, Sonny Gray was effective for the Red Sox, navigating six innings while surrendering just two earned runs and striking out three, keeping the Padres in check.

Boston's ability to capitalize on a key scoring opportunity, paired with a resilient outing from their starter, ultimately determined the outcome. This victory elevates the Red Sox's record to 67-58, while the Padres now stand at 67-59.
