The Reds wasted no time making their presence felt, with Stewart doubling to left in the top of the first inning to bring home De La Cruz, giving Cincinnati an early 1-0 lead. However, the Rockies found their equalizer in the bottom of the fifth, as Johnston hit a sacrifice fly to center, allowing Karros to score and knotting the game at 1-1.

The true turning point of the game arrived in the top of the sixth inning when the Reds' offense exploded for three runs. Spencer Steer ignited the rally with a 404-foot homer to left, scoring Bleday and breaking the tie. Just moments later, Suárez followed suit with a 415-foot blast to left, extending Cincinnati's lead to 4-1 and firmly shifting the momentum.

From that point, the Reds never looked back, adding another run in the seventh when Stewart hit his second sacrifice fly of the day, bringing home Hayes. Though Castro managed to hit a 382-foot homer for the Rockies in the bottom of the seventh, it was a lone bright spot against a dominant performance from Reds pitcher Brady Singer, who finished his impressive outing with 7.0 innings pitched, 6 strikeouts, and just 2 earned runs.

Cincinnati continued to pile on in the later innings, with Spencer Steer hammering his second home run of the game, a 421-foot shot to center in the eighth, further solidifying his top batting performance of two homers, three RBI, and two runs scored. De La Cruz then capped off the scoring in the top of the ninth with a 434-foot solo homer to center, sealing the Reds' convincing 7-2 upset victory over the favored Rockies.
