San Francisco Giants vs Seattle Mariners — Recap

📰Game Recap

The San Francisco Giants defied pregame expectations on Tuesday, shutting out the Seattle Mariners 7-0 in a dominant performance that saw the underdog Giants pull off a significant upset. Entering the contest with a 44-61 record against the Mariners' 52-55, San Francisco was given an implied probability of just 42% to win. However, behind a masterful pitching display and timely hitting, the Giants controlled the game from start to finish.

The Giants' offense began to chip away at the scoreboard in the top of the fifth inning. After a scoreless four frames, Eldridge launched a 402-foot home run to center field, bringing Cavanaugh home and putting San Francisco up 2-0. They extended their lead an inning later when Lee scored on a fielding error by Mariners second baseman Young, allowing Arraez to reach first safely and pushing the score to 3-0.

The decisive blow came in the top of the seventh inning, which proved to be the game's turning point. With runners on base, Willy Adames stepped to the plate and crushed a 393-foot home run to center. The grand slam brought home Schmitt, Ramos, and Lee, immediately ballooning the Giants' lead to 7-0 and effectively putting the game out of reach for Seattle. Adames finished the day as the Giants' top batter, with his single hit accounting for four RBI and one run scored.

Meanwhile, Giants pitcher Landen Roupp delivered a stellar outing, completely stifling the Mariners' offense through seven innings. Roupp allowed no runs and recorded two strikeouts during his time on the mound, keeping Seattle off balance and ensuring the shutout. The comprehensive 7-0 victory served as a significant win for the struggling Giants, delivering a definitive upset over the favored Mariners.
