The Oakland Athletics defeated the Colorado Rockies on Thursday, rallying with three runs in the sixth inning to reclaim the lead after Colorado had surged ahead.

Oakland initially took control in the first inning when Wilson's single brought home Kurtz and Langeliers. Colorado began to chip away, with B. Sullivan's solo home run in the third and Johnston's RBI single in the fourth tying the game. However, the Athletics quickly answered in the bottom of the fourth, as Zack Gelof launched a two-run homer to left-center, restoring a two-run advantage. The Rockies then mounted a significant rally in the fifth, scoring three times to seize the lead. B. Sullivan's sacrifice fly cut the deficit, followed by Thompson scoring on a wild pitch to tie the game. Later in the inning, Rumfield's double brought home Julien, giving Colorado a 5-4 advantage.

That lead, however, proved short-lived. The Athletics immediately answered with a decisive three-run sixth inning to reclaim the advantage. Zack Gelof, who had earlier hit a two-run homer, sparked the rally by scoring on a single by Williams to tie the game. Soderstrom then doubled to drive in Williams, giving Oakland a 6-5 lead. The Athletics added an insurance run when Soderstrom scored on a hit-by-pitch to Cortes, extending their lead to 7-5.

Oakland's resilience in responding quickly after falling behind ultimately decided the contest, as their bullpen held the Rockies scoreless for the remainder of the game. The win brought the Athletics' record to 50-75, while the Rockies fell to 50-75.
