Colorado Rockies vs San Diego Padres — Recap

📰Game Recap

The San Diego Padres defeated the Colorado Rockies 5-2, relying on dominant pitching and a crucial offensive burst to secure the win. Walker Buehler delivered six shutout innings to set a strong foundation, while Gavin Sheets provided the primary offensive firepower with a pair of home runs and four runs batted in.

Padres right-hander Walker Buehler dictated the game's early pace, silencing Colorado's offense through six masterful innings without allowing a run. Sheets supplied the necessary power for San Diego, launching two home runs that accounted for four of the team's five runs, giving the Padres a significant advantage early in the contest.

While the Rockies eventually managed to put two runs on the board after Buehler's exit, San Diego solidified its lead with a significant ninth-inning surge. A three-run outburst in the final regulation frame created ample separation, effectively putting the game out of reach and ensuring the Padres' victory.

Ultimately, the consistent work from Buehler on the mound, combined with Sheets' two-homer performance and a decisive late-game rally, formed the winning recipe for San Diego. Following the win, the Padres' record improved to 68-59, while the Rockies now stand at 50-76.
