San Francisco initially took the lead in the first inning when Eldridge singled home Rafael Devers. Colorado responded immediately in the top of the second, first tying the game on a Veen infield single and then taking a 4-1 lead courtesy of an Amador three-run homer. The Giants quickly answered back in the bottom half of the second, with Gilbert driving in a run before Devers connected for his own three-run blast, putting San Francisco back in front, 5-4. An RBI single from Hill in the third extended the Giants' lead to 6-4.

The Rockies began to chip away at the lead in the fifth inning, tying the game at six runs apiece with a Carrigg double and a Moniak sacrifice fly. While Kennedy's bases-loaded walk nudged the Giants ahead 7-6 in the bottom of the fifth, the decisive blow came in the top of the sixth. Veen capitalized on a wild pitch to again draw the score even at seven. Colorado then erupted for three more runs, first taking the lead on a Carrigg hit-by-pitch that scored Beck, followed by a two-run single from Moniak that advanced to second on a costly fielding error by left fielder Hill. B. Sullivan put the game out of reach with a three-run homer in the seventh, underscoring Colorado's persistent offensive surge.

Colorado's ability to consistently answer the Giants' scoring threats, coupled with timely hitting and capitalizing on defensive miscues, proved to be the difference in a back-and-forth contest. While Rafael Devers delivered a strong offensive performance for San Francisco, the Giants' inability to maintain their leads and a solid relief outing from Zach Agnos, who pitched two scoreless innings, ultimately sealed their fate. The Rockies improved their record to 50-74, while the Giants fell to 51-73.
