Game Recap
The Arizona Diamondbacks mounted a dramatic six-run comeback in the eighth inning, erasing a late deficit to secure a 7-5 victory over the Detroit Tigers. Casey Mize delivered a dominant performance for Detroit, surrendering just one earned run over six innings while striking out nine. The Tigers leveraged his strong outing to build a 5-1 lead entering the fateful eighth inning, with Arizona's lone run coming early via a solo home run from Jose Fernandez. However, the Diamondbacks' offense came alive with a six-run explosion in the bottom of the eighth, dramatically flipping the script. This decisive frame saw Arizona turn a four-run deficit into a two-run advantage. Fernandez once again spearheaded the attack, hitting his second home run of the night during the rally and finishing with three hits and four runs batted in, driving the pivotal runs that secured the comeback. Ultimately, a late surge powered by Fernandez's bat allowed Arizona to overcome a stellar outing from Mize and clinch the win. The Diamondbacks improved their record to 67-59, while the Tigers fell to 60-65.
