Detroit Tigers vs Atlanta Braves — Recap

📰Game Recap

Atlanta secured a dramatic walk-off victory, powered by Matt Olson's two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning. The Braves overcame a late-game deficit after Detroit had seized the lead in the third.

The Braves initially grabbed a lead in the first inning when Albies launched a two-run homer. Detroit quickly answered in the second, first with McGonigle's RBI single, then tying the game when Jung scored on a pickoff error by pitcher Ritchie. Greene then put the Tigers ahead with a solo blast in the third, making it 3-2.

Despite Detroit starter Tarik Skubal's strong outing, limiting Atlanta to two runs over seven innings, the Tigers' slim lead proved vulnerable. Skubal struck out seven batters, but the Braves' offense, largely quieted through the middle innings, found its moment in the final frame. The game's decisive swing came in the ninth, as Olson's towering drive to right-center field, his second hit of the night, brought home Albies and sealed the comeback win.

The Braves' persistence ultimately paid off, as their powerful lineup delivered the crucial hit when it mattered most to clinch a narrow victory. Atlanta improved to 75-50, while Detroit fell to 60-65.
