Detroit Tigers vs Chicago White Sox — Recap

📰Game Recap

The Chicago White Sox mounted a late-game rally, scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to overcome the Detroit Tigers in a 2-1 victory. After trailing for much of the contest, Chicago’s offense finally broke through to erase a persistent one-run deficit.

The Tigers initially took the lead in the opening frame. In the top of the first, Torkelson doubled to left field, allowing McGonigle to score. That single run held for six innings, thanks largely to Detroit’s starting pitcher Keider Montero, who delivered a dominant performance, shutting out the White Sox through six frames. However, the game turned dramatically in the bottom of the seventh.

Montero’s masterful outing, which included four strikeouts and no earned runs over six innings, ultimately went unrewarded. Chicago’s offense finally cracked him in the seventh when Colson Montgomery launched a solo home run to right-center field, tying the game at one apiece. The White Sox quickly capitalized on this momentum shift; immediately following Montgomery’s blast, Peters singled to left, driving home Meidroth and securing the decisive run.

Chicago ultimately prevailed by capitalizing on a late-game surge against the Tigers’ bullpen, negating an otherwise strong start from Detroit’s Montero. The White Sox improved to 66-58, while the Tigers fell to 60-65.
