Game Recap
The Boston Red Sox overcame an early deficit with a decisive six-run rally in the seventh inning, securing a 9-4 victory over the Cleveland Guardians. Boston's powerful offensive surge in the late innings sealed the win, turning a one-run deficit into a commanding lead that Cleveland could not answer.
Cleveland initially took control in the second inning after Jarren Duranβs first-inning solo home run gave Boston an early lead. Hedges' two-RBI single put the Guardians ahead 2-1. The fifth inning saw a back-and-forth battle: Boston tied the game on a sacrifice fly by Gasper and then took a 3-2 lead with an Abreu single, only for Cleveland to reclaim the lead at 4-3 on an RBI double from RamΓrez and an RBI single by DeLauter.
The game's turning point arrived in the seventh inning as Boston exploded for six runs. Abreu drew a walk with the bases loaded to tie the score at 4-4. Following that, Yoshida singled to center, driving in two runs and putting Boston ahead 6-4. Kiner-Falefa then singled to extend the lead to 7-4, and Durbin capped the inning with a two-run triple, pushing the score to 9-4. While Bostonβs Ranger Suarez recorded ten strikeouts through five innings, he also allowed all four Cleveland runs, setting the stage for his offense to produce.
Boston's persistent lineup ultimately prevailed, demonstrating its ability to rally from behind with a significant late-game offensive burst. The Red Sox now hold a 67-58 record, while the Guardians stand at 60-66.
