Detroit Tigers vs Cleveland Guardians — Recap

📰Game Recap

Cleveland secured a narrow victory over Detroit, maintaining a lead established in the second inning despite two solo home runs from the Tigers. The Guardians’ offense provided just enough support for Tanner Bibee, who delivered a strong start on the mound.

The Guardians opened the scoring in the second inning when Bailey’s single brought home Hoskins. Rocchio followed with a triple to right, extending the lead as Bailey crossed the plate. Detroit responded in the third with James Outman’s 418-foot solo home run. Cleveland added an insurance run in the sixth when Kwan singled, scoring Martínez. Torkelson’s 416-foot solo blast in the eighth brought the Tigers within one.

While Detroit relied on the long ball to stay in contention, Cleveland’s early two-run rally in the second inning proved decisive, giving them a lead they would never relinquish. Tanner Bibee was instrumental for the Guardians, striking out eight batters over seven innings while allowing only two earned runs, effectively neutralizing the Tigers’ lineup for much of the game. His performance ensured that the subsequent single runs scored by both teams didn’t fundamentally alter the game’s trajectory.

Ultimately, Cleveland’s combination of timely hitting to build an early advantage and a strong outing from its starting pitcher was enough to hold off Detroit’s late-game power. The Guardians moved to 61-65 on the season, while the Tigers fell to 60-65.
