Arizona scored three runs in the ninth inning, breaking a tie and securing a 5-2 victory over the Cincinnati Reds. This late surge decided a contest that had seen both teams trade leads and ties throughout.

Cincinnati initially took the lead in the bottom of the second with Noelvi Marte's 427-foot solo home run to center field. Arizona quickly responded in the third when Arenado's sacrifice fly brought home a run, tying the game. The Reds, however, reclaimed their advantage in the bottom of the third on a throwing error by center fielder Lawlar, allowing Steer to score. The Diamondbacks drew even again in the sixth inning after Groover singled to center, driving in Lawlar.

The decisive moment came in the top of the ninth inning, when Arizona capitalized on defensive miscues. With the game tied at two, Moreno scored on a fielding error by left fielder Dunn, which also advanced Perdomo to second and Vargas to third. Lawlar then delivered a crucial single to right field, scoring both Vargas and Perdomo, extending the lead to 5-2. This three-run outburst, the largest scoring inning of the game, proved insurmountable for Cincinnati.

Arizona's persistence at the plate and ability to capitalize on late-game errors ultimately propelled them to victory. The Diamondbacks improved their record to 67-59, while the Reds fell to 59-66.
