๐Ÿ“ฐGame Recap

The Detroit Tigers completed a resilient comeback on the road Tuesday night, scoring in the final three innings to rally past the Toronto Blue Jays 6-5. Entering the game as the underdog, Detroit overcame an early deficit and then battled back after Toronto briefly regained the lead, ultimately securing the victory in a seesaw contest.

The Blue Jays quickly established an advantage, plating two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Alejandro Kirk delivered an RBI single to left, bringing home Bateman, before George Springer scored on a wild pitch from Detroit's Melton. This 2-0 lead held for Toronto through the middle innings, with strong pitching keeping the Tigers' offense quiet until late.

Detroit finally broke through in the seventh inning, erupting for four runs. Jake Dingler's single scored Torres, before Clark doubled to bring home Dingler and Greene. Spencer Torkelson then doubled, scoring Clark, which gave the Tigers a 4-2 lead. However, Toronto immediately answered the challenge in the bottom half of the frame. Kazuma Okamoto launched a three-run homer to left, scoring George Springer and Alejandro Kirk to put the Blue Jays back in front 5-4. Jose Soriano, who started for Toronto, ultimately gave up four earned runs over 6.1 innings amidst the offensive explosion. The Tigers showed persistence, tying the game in the eighth inning when Callahan singled to bring home McGonigle.

The Tigers completed their comeback in the ninth inning. Zach McKinstry scored on an error by pitcher Varland, allowing Detroit to claim the decisive run. Their ability to consistently generate offense, scoring in three consecutive late innings even after losing their initial lead, proved key to their underdog victory. Detroit improved to 71-79, while the Blue Jays fell to 75-76.
