Game Recap
The Colorado Rockies secured a convincing 5-1 victory over the Houston Astros on Tuesday, driven by a powerful offensive performance from Willi Castro and a dominant outing on the mound by starting pitcher Kyle Freeland.
The Rockies established control early in the contest, manufacturing five runs while the Astros struggled to get their offense going. Willi Castro was instrumental in building Colorado's lead, collecting three hits including a home run, which accounted for three of his team's five runs.
Castro's bat proved to be the decisive factor, as his solo blast and subsequent RBI hits gave the Rockies a comfortable margin. On the pitching side, Freeland kept Houston's lineup in check for 6.1 innings, striking out five and surrendering just a single earned run. This combination of run production and effective pitching limited any comeback opportunities for the Astros.
Ultimately, the Rockiesβ ability to combine timely hitting with a strong effort from their starter ensured they maintained their advantage throughout the game. The Astros simply could not generate enough offense to challenge Colorado. Following the win, the Rockies improved to 51-74, while the Astros fell to 63-63.
