Game Recap
Colorado secured a commanding 9-1 victory over Houston, fueled by a dominant five-run second inning and a strong outing from starting pitcher Michael Lorenzen.
The Rockies offense ignited early, scoring five runs in the second inning to establish a significant lead. Hunter Goodman contributed to the barrage with a solo home run. Houston managed to push across only a single run later in the game, struggling to generate any consistent offense against Colorado's pitching. The Rockies added insurance runs in subsequent innings to solidify their advantage.
The decisive blow came in the second inning when Colorado erupted for five runs, giving them an early and insurmountable lead. Goodman's leadoff homer in that frame set the tone for the big inning. Michael Lorenzen then effectively stifled the Astros lineup, allowing just one earned run over 5.2 innings and striking out four batters, preventing any comeback attempt. His control on the mound kept Houston from building any momentum after the early deficit.
Colorado's potent offense and strong pitching performance combined to deliver a comprehensive win, preventing Houston from getting back to .500 on the season. The Rockies now stand at 51-74, while the Astros fall to 63-63.
