Pederson extended the lead in the fifth with a solo home run. Houston began to chip away in the sixth with an Alvarez solo shot, then tied the game in the seventh courtesy of a two-run homer from Diaz, scoring Wade Jr.

However, the Rangers quickly countered in the bottom of the eighth after the Astros' comeback erased their lead. Langford broke the tie with a solo home run, putting Texas back in front.
