Los Angeles Dodgers vs Arizona Diamondbacks โ€” Recap

๐Ÿ“ฐGame Recap

The Los Angeles Dodgers secured a narrow 6-5 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks, fending off a spirited late-game rally from the home team. After building a comfortable early lead, the Dodgers watched Arizona score three runs in the seventh inning, turning a four-run cushion into a one-run nail-biter that tested Los Angeles's resolve.

Los Angeles wasted no time establishing control. Freddie Freeman launched a two-run home run to right center in the first inning, bringing Shohei Ohtani around to score. An inning later, Ohtani himself drove in two with a triple to right, giving the Dodgers a 4-0 advantage. Arizona began to chip away with Corbin Carroll's solo home run in the third and Ketel Marte's sacrifice fly in the fifth. However, the Dodgers seemed to regain momentum in the top of the seventh with two insurance runs, first on a sacrifice fly from Andy Pages, then an RBI single by Mookie Betts, extending their lead to 6-2.

That four-run lead quickly evaporated in the bottom of the seventh as the Diamondbacks mounted their biggest offensive surge. Nolan Arenado doubled to left, scoring Gabriel Moreno and Marte, before a bases-loaded walk to Pavin Smith brought home Arenado, narrowing the deficit to a single run. Despite this three-run inning, Arizona's effort fell just short of a full comeback. The early damage inflicted by the Dodgers, spearheaded by Freeman's crucial two-run blast and Ohtani's two-run triple, provided just enough separation against Arizona starter Michael Soroka, who surrendered four earned runs across six innings.

Ultimately, the Dodgers' initial offensive burst and their ability to add a pair of pivotal insurance runs in the seventh proved sufficient to withstand the Diamondbacks' determined late charge. The favored Los Angeles club managed to hold on for the win. The Los Angeles Dodgers now stand at 76-51, while the Arizona Diamondbacks fall to 66-61.
