The Tampa Bay Rays steadily built their lead to defeat the New York Mets 6-2 on Thursday, overcoming an early deficit with consistent offense and a dominant pitching performance. After conceding the game's first run, the Rays took control, highlighted by a three-run sixth inning that put the game out of reach.

New York's Francisco Lindor opened the scoring with a solo home run in the top of the first inning. Tampa Bay quickly countered, however, as Caminero’s single tied the game in the bottom half, scoring Díaz. The Rays then pulled ahead in the third when Vilade singled home Mesa Jr., pushing Díaz to second base.

The decisive blow came in the bottom of the sixth inning, where Tampa Bay scored three times. Fortes doubled to left field, bringing home Simpson, before Walls hit a sacrifice fly to left that scored Fortes. Díaz then capped the rally with a solo blast to left-center. Rays starter Freddy Peralta was instrumental in stifling the Mets' offense throughout, working six strong innings, fanning seven, and allowing just one earned run. Though Lindor drew a bases-loaded walk in the seventh to trim the lead, the Mets could not mount a full comeback.

Tampa Bay's combination of timely hitting and effective pitching, particularly from Peralta, proved too much for the Mets to overcome. The Rays improved their record to 83-55, while the Mets fell to 62-77.
