New York Yankees vs Seattle Mariners — Recap

📰Game Recap

The Seattle Mariners secured a narrow 2-1 victory over the New York Yankees, prevailing in a tightly contested pitching duel where runs were at a premium. This defensive battle ultimately saw Seattle's offense just edge out New York's.

The game remained scoreless through the early frames, with both starting pitchers holding their respective lineups in check. The Mariners broke the deadlock first, plating their two runs over the course of the contest while limiting the Yankees to a single run in response, making every scoring opportunity critical.

Luis Castillo was the dominant force on the mound for Seattle, tossing six shutout innings and striking out seven Yankees hitters. His stellar performance stifled New York's offense, allowing the Mariners’ bats just enough room to get ahead. Offensively, Cole Young provided the crucial spark for Seattle, collecting three hits and driving in one of the Mariners' two runs, proving instrumental in their low-scoring win.

Ultimately, outstanding pitching and timely, decisive hitting allowed the Mariners to claim a hard-fought victory against a formidable opponent. The Seattle Mariners now hold a 60-66 record, while the New York Yankees move to 69-56.
