While Ortiz's bat provided a consistent spark for the Brewers, his individual efforts were not enough to overcome Seattle's initial outburst. He contributed a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning to score Contreras, and in the eighth, his single plated Vaughn, bringing Milwaukee within three runs at 7-4. Later in the eighth, Lara scored on a double play to make it 7-5, but that was as close as the Brewers would get. Logan Gilbert delivered five innings for Seattle, striking out five, allowing three earned runs, and navigating the early stages of Milwaukee's attempted comeback before turning the ball over to the bullpen.

Ultimately, the Mariners' aggressive start, highlighted by their four-run first inning, established a lead too large for Milwaukee to overcome, even with several late scoring opportunities.
