The New York Mets overcame a late deficit, securing a comeback victory against the San Francisco Giants after being held scoreless for much of the game. Despite a dominant outing by the opposing starter, New York's offense erupted in the eighth inning with a pair of crucial home runs to seize control.

San Francisco was the first to get on the board, with Lee's two-run single in the top of the fourth inning bringing home Eldridge and Cox. That advantage held firm for much of the contest. The Mets struggled to generate offense until the bottom of the eighth, when a solo home run by Baty finally put them on the scoreboard, cutting the lead in half.

The Mets' eighth-inning rally proved decisive, starting with Baty's solo blast. Immediately following, Bo Bichette launched a three-run home run to left-center field, driving in Ewing and Soto, and giving New York its first lead of the contest. This four-run explosion completely overturned a masterful performance by Giants starter Cesar Perdomo, who had shut out the Mets through six innings, striking out four and allowing no earned runs.

Ultimately, the Mets' late-game power surge proved too much for the Giants, as two critical swings of the bat changed the complexion of the game entirely. The New York Mets improved their record to 65-78, while the San Francisco Giants fell to 59-85.
